Understandings needed for:

1) Follow up and nurture of believers

Meeting new problems:
The new believer may face rejection from family and friends.
The new believer has probably lost a good part of the cultural support system.

Christian growth. 
The new believer needs to continue the discipling process.
The new believer needs to process which parts of his culture can be brought into the service of Christ,
                 and which parts are incompatible with the new "ultimate allegiance."
The new believer needs to share his faith with others.

Fellowship
The new believer needs to find a place for worship, communion, and body-life.

2) Helping a congregation

Church development
A new church needs to fill in those parts of the support system that the believers have been removed from.
A new church needs to decide together what parts of the existing culture may help to form worship and church life, and which parts are out of bounds.
A new church needs to agree on how to choose and denote their pastor and other leadership.
A new church needs to agree on how to relate to other churches.

Leadership
New pastors and leaders need leadership training.
