The question of "who Jesus is" is essential in order to explain "What Jesus did." 

Romans 1:3-4 presents Jesus as true man: "as to his human nature, he was a descendant of David," and also God: "declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead."  "what Jesus did" would not have had significance were it not for "who Jesus is."  If he were not human, he could not have died for sin.  If he were not God, that death would not have been of such enormous value.

    The savior promised in the Old Testament
