| Authority Source in
Philosophical Hinduism
Taking
what is said in Handbook of Today’s Religion , page 290 and 291, about
the way of knowledge, I would say that adherent of philosophical Hinduism
would regard the Vedas as an authoritative and sufficient revelation of
the way to salvation. I don’t think they would say there was in those
scriptures any power to lead people to accept what they teach. I think
this is true because, in the way of knowledge, the seeker of moksha must
do the work himself, as he seeks to reach the point where he suddenly has
direct insight and understands that the ultimate reality is one integrated
whole. (Page 93 of “The Hindu Connection”)
