Response paper three – saved by grace through faith

“How will I share with a _______ about the benefits of trusting in Jesus?

Questions to consider.  How will I tell them that:

 Grace and Faith

1.  Faith is trust, not just agreement with statements.

2.  Faith is trust in Jesus, instead of trust in self or other gods.

3.  Trust in Jesus brings results that trust in other things cannot bring.

4.  Faith is a clinging to Jesus, a reliance, a receiving.

5.  Faith is submission to Jesus as Lord.

6.  Faith expresses itself in repenting of sins.

7.  Faith is God’s gift, a miracle brought about by God as the gospel message is shared.

8.  Baptism is God’s gift, the gospel in a way that can be felt.

 Saved.  Faith in Jesus brings

1.  adoption as God’s child, a family relationship with God.

2.  forgiveness of sins, freedom from guilt.

3.  new life, and power from God.

4.  a new lifestyle of daily repenting of sins and clinging to God’s promises.

5.  a connection to the source of life – abundant and eternal.

6.  a relation to the judge who has already pronounced us innocent.

How to use these questions.  For each one, consider how to avoid misunderstandings, avoid premature cut-offs, find bridges of common humanity, such as their felt needs, and aspects of their present beliefs that can serve as bridges to the salvation message.

But NOT “how can I say this is a way that they will ACCEPT.”  No matter how well you say it, they may not necessarily accept it.

Please DON’T write “first I’ll build a relationship with them.”  For this paper, we will assume that you have already built a relationship with them.

Paper details.  This paper must be at least four pages.  It must include a bibliography of at least three items, and at least 2 items must be books, not web sites.  You should only put things in your bibliography that you actually make reference to in your paper.  All quotes you make in your paper should be to materials you have included in your bibliography.
