Why spend time doing a Bible study on jealousy?
It's not a "major" sin like murder or adultery, is it?
It's quite normal to have twinges of jealousy every now and then, what harm is there in that?
WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF JEALOUSY?

Jealousy and anger seem to go together. But is anger only directed toward another human being ? -
Who rejected Cain's offering?
Who created Leah, less physically attractive than her sister?
Who could have made it possible for Rachael to have children early in her marriage?
Who was responsible for Joseph's dreams?
Who told Saul that he would take his kingdom from him and give it to another?
Whose grace and mercy was the Prodigal's brother questioning?
Whose teaching threatened the chief priests and elders?
JEALOUSY RESULTS FROM A BAD ATTITUDE TOWARD GOD AND RESULTS IN AN ATTITUDE THAT KEEPS US FROM EFFECTIVELY LOVING, WORKING WITH, FELLOWSHIPPING WITH, AND SERVING OTHERS. IT LEADS TO ANGER, BREAKDOWN IN COMMUNICATION, COMPETITIVENESS, DIVISIVENESS,
BITTERNESS, AND HATRED / MURDER.

The 9th and 10th commandments (Exodus 20:17) states that "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor." covetous adj. 1. Excessively and wrongly desirous of the possessions of another. 2. Marked by extreme desire to acquire or possess.
WHAT CAN WE DO WHEN WE IDENTIFY JEALOUS THOUGHTS?
1. Agree with God that jealousy is a serious sin that we need to confess, ask forgiveness for and turn from. 1 John 1:8-9
2. Trust God
A. God knew what he was doing when he designed you physically. Psalm 139:13-16 You can accept the unchangeable things as his perfect design for the purpose he has in mind for your life. God evaluates people by looking at their heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 B. God provides everything that we need. 2 Corinthians 9:8 Philippians 4:19 1 John 5:14-15 C. God loves us just the way we are, but too much to leave us that way. He is in the business of transforming lives. Romans 8:29 Colossians 3:10
