We would not know there is a sun, were it not for the fact that the sun sends out particles of itself, that reach the earth and enter our eyes.  These particles are the same as the stuff that the sun is made of.

God sent out his son, who is made of the "same stuff."  In seeing Jesus, we are learning about God.  This illustrates that Jesus is God, sent by God the father, and yet God is one.
