The Ant Story

A man was sitting under a tree, watching a group of black ants.  He enjoyed seeing their struggles as they hauled large pieces of food, and felt a liking for them.  Suddenly, he looked up and in the distance he saw an army of red ants coming.  Assuming they were going to attack his friends the black ants, he wanted to warn and protect them.  First he tried shouting at them "Look out!"  The black ants did not seem to notice.  The he put his arm down to keep the black ants separated from the advancing enemy, but the black ants simply crawled over his arm. In his desperation he said to himself, "If only I could become an ant, then I could go to them and communicate with them."

God used many ways to warn people throughout history, using prophets and events, but his people did not listen.  God decided to become human, as the most direct way to communicate with us.  Jesus is that communication from God.   That's why John 1:18 says, "No one has seen God at any time, but the only son, who lives in intimacy with the father, has made him known."
